An independent, unofficial guide to the NALA Certified Paralegal (CP) Knowledge Exam — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or reviewed by NALA.
Format last checked: September 2026. The Certified Paralegal (CP) credential is administered by NALA (the National Association of Legal Assistants) in two sequential parts: a 120-question, 3-hour computer-based Knowledge Exam at PSI test centers, followed — only after passing — by a 2-hour written Skills Exam. This tool builds practice and mock exams for the multiple-choice Knowledge Exam; the separate written Skills Exam is not simulated here. Verify current fees, eligibility pathways, and scheduling windows against NALA's own exam page before registering to sit for it.

Independently researched from NALA's publicly listed CP Exam Content Outline — verify current figures against NALA's own materials before relying on them for study or scheduling. All 1,000 practice questions on this page are original content written for this platform, not reproduced from any official NALA exam, NALA study guide, or third-party prep-vendor question bank.
Two ways to practice here
Pick a single domain below for a focused, timed testlet (up to 15 questions, paced at the Knowledge Exam's overall average of about 1.5 minutes per question) — good for drilling one topic at a time. Or take the Full CP Knowledge Exam Mock: a fresh 120-question set drawn and shuffled every attempt, proportioned to match each domain's published exam weight, timed at the real Knowledge Exam's full 180-minute duration.
A note on scoring
NALA sets the passing standard using a criterion-referenced (Angoff) method and reports results as simply Pass/Fail, with no published flat percent-correct cutoff or numeric score. This portal reports plain accuracy (percent correct) on a fixed testlet, with a study-signal label — not an official passing determination of any kind.
Study Guide
Strategy notes for each of the 9 NALA CP content domains built out on this platform — general study approaches, written for this platform.
Practice Bank
Untimed, with explanations. Filter by section or topic, answer, then reveal the explanation whenever you're ready.
Mock Exams
Take the Full CP Knowledge Exam Mock for a real-length, 120-question simulation timed at the Knowledge Exam's full 180 minutes, drawn fresh and shuffled each attempt in proportion to each domain's published weight — or choose a single domain below for a shorter, focused testlet.
Once you start, the clock runs continuously and auto-submits when it hits zero. Explanations are withheld until you finish. This simulates only the multiple-choice Knowledge Exam; the separate written Skills Exam (required after passing the Knowledge Exam) has its own practice tab.

CP Skills Exam Practice
Once you pass the Knowledge Exam, NALA requires a separate 2-hour written Skills Exam before you earn the CP credential. Practice that writing style here — draft a timed answer, then reveal a model answer and rubric to self-assess.
Flashcards
Untimed recall practice built from the same question bank as Practice Bank and Mock Exams — read the question, try to answer it yourself, then reveal the answer and mark whether you had it.
